LGS successfully completes certification

State joint stock company “Latvijas gaisa satiksme” (LGS) has completed recertification of its services, and on 21 December Dāvids Tauriņš, Chairman of the Board of LGS, received from the hands of Māris Čerņonoks, Head of the Aeronavigation Division of the Ministry of Transport’s state agency “The Civil Aviation Agency”, the company’s new air navigation service provider and air traffic controllers training organisation certificates.

 

The air navigation service provider certificate, which is valid indefinitely, certifies that LGS complies with all relevant requirements to provide air traffic services (ATS), communication, navigation, surveillance (CNS), aeronautical information services (AIS) and meteorological services (MET). In turn, the air traffic controllers training organisation (ATCO) certificate grants the privilege to provide ATCO unit training, ATCO continuation training, practical instructor training, assessor training and other ATM staff training.

 

The certification procedure was performed and the certificates issued by the Civil Aviation Agency of Latvia.

 

Due to changes in legislative requirements as to aviation security, which are to take effect at the beginning of 2018, LGS has started implementing improvements in its information security management system to ensure compliance with international standard ISO/IEC 27001:2013. Compliance of the LGS information security management system with this standard is planned to be certified in the 4th quarter of 2017.

 

The Law on Energy Efficiency came into force on 29 March 2016. In accordance to this law, LGS must introduce and maintain an energy management system in compliance with ISO 50001:2011 or undergo an energy audit every four years. Having assessed the available resources, competence and potential benefits, the decision has been in favour of performing and completing an energy audit (audit report and submission of recommendations for improving energy efficiency) by 31 March 2017.

 

A certificate on compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards of the quality management system has already been obtained.
