Bureau Veritas Latvia certifies quality management system of the SJSC “Latvijas gaisa satiksme” as compliant with ISO 9001:2008
SJSC „Latvijas gaisa satiksme” has started the 5th cycle of quality management system certification. On the grounds of audit results „Bureau Veritas Latvia” Ltd has reissued SJSC „Latvijas gaisa satiksme” a certificate confirming compliance of the quality management system with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008.
2013 25 October,
The Latvian air navigation service provider Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme (LGS) will introduce the Mode S Interrogator Code Conflict Alerter (MICCA) of the German air navigation service provider DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung which detects and displays Mode S target acquisition problems in real time. The main feature of the application is to identify interrogator code conflicts which can result in aircraft not being detected by one or more Mode S sensors. By taking on this technology, LGS is fulfilling the European Commission's requirements contained in Article 7 of Regulation (EC) 262/2009, which states that the ANSPs of Member States must provide monitoring of such interrogator code conflicts in a timely manner. The installation of the application, the adaptation to the local infrastructure and the training of personnel are scheduled to be completed by February 2014.

The third meeting of the NEFAB Council since the entry into force of the NEFAB State Level Agreement took place in Oslo on 19 September 2013. The Council addressed important issues regarding the future strategic direction of NEFAB, including measures to meet the soon to be confirmed European wide performance targets.

30th September - 1th October in Riga heads of ANSPs of European Nordic States come together for Borealis Alliance Board meeting. Borealis Alliance includes the ANSPs of Denmark (Naviair), Estonia (EANS), Finland (Finavia), Iceland (Isavia), Ireland (IAA), Latvia (LGS), Norway (Avinor), Sweden (LFV) and the UK (NATS).
2013 21 June,
CANSO (Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation) called on States to adopt global measures to mitigate the environmental impact of aviation. States are urged to reach agreement on a basket of reforms proposed by the aviation industry at the 38th Session of the ICAO Assembly in September. These will enable the industry to achieve its goal of carbon neutral growth from 2020 and include measures on operations, infrastructure, and technology as well as market-based measures.

Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) from six North European countries have decided to work together to implement Free Route Airspace in the entire airspace over Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia and Latvia.

SESAR co-sponsored project under the AIRE initiative to establish state-of-the art fuel efficient procedures to lower emissions, enhance operations and reduce noise. Latvian national airline airBaltic together with its consortium partners Quovadis and Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme launched a new project under the Atlantic Interoperability Initiative to Reduce Emissions (AIRE) to operate Europe’s first green flights for turboprop aircraft. The AMBER project will establish new arrival procedures for Riga Airport that will shorten the distances flown, improve flight trajectories to avoid residential areas and reduce people’s exposure to noise, as well as cut fuel consumption and emissions.
